Activities For The Letter "D"

Updated: Jun 18, 2024

This week we are working on the letter "D" and the ideas for this letter are endless! if you are looking for fun activities to do with your little ones while teaching them the letter "D" and all the great things that start with the letter, keep reading down below!

"D" is for Dinosaur

A great way to really get a good look at some Dinosaur tracks is using Playdoh! This is great sensory play for little ones and a great way to talk about tracks. The fact that playdoh is great for fine motor control is a plus as well!

Not only am I always looking for fun ways to teach the boys about colors and sorting, I'm also looking for ways to use what we have on hand! This was a great way to work on sorting colors and the fact that we laid the color plates on the floor, the boys got to move around and burn energy.

Bubble wrap and dinosaurs is a quick and cost effective way of keeping your little ones entertained. Of course withbadult supervision because we are dealing with little ones. The great part is the dinosaurs can be swapped out for other toys such as cars!

We scored this Dinosaur Fine Motor toy from Amazon! Anything that works on fine motor control is a win in my book. Especially with our 3 year old working on writing!

Pull this dinosaur ice painting out on those hot days! It's really easy to make and taste safe for the little ones still mouthy. Just combine water and food color, pop your dinos in a muffin tin, fill them with water and freeze! They come out quite easy but if it is a little bit of a struggle run warm water over the bottom and they pop right out. I gave my little ones a little container of water to just coat the bottom to help get the color going.

Pom poms are a great replacement for the skills while still working on those fine motor muscles!

This dino dig up sensory bin was a quick throw together but the boys loved it! Using homemade moon sand and some dino molds.

This Cheerios based sensory bin is simple but tons of fun for the littles. Cheerios make a great base for little ones who still put things in their mouth.

"D" is for Duck

Duck feet hopscotch is a great waybto burn energy, talk numbers, and have some classic fun with your little one!

Funny thing about this sensory bin, I couldn't find a big enough container, so I popped this plastic shelf off, cleaned it out and bam. A big enough pond to entertain the Littles!

Another fun water play set up with ducks! And a couple of frogs too!

That's a wrap for our week of learning about the letter "D" and things that start with it. If you like these activities, check out more activities down below!
