When people ask me about sensory play, the most common question is, "How do I come up with ideas?" Despite the ease portrayed on social media, I occasionally find myself at a loss. It can be exhausting to create something that not only captures the boys' attention but also holds it. However, crafting sensory buns based on their favorite characters has proven to be a resounding success for us. Personally, I find joy in making these themed bins as well. If your children adore sesame street like ours do, these sensory bins might just be a hit with your little ones too. Below, I've detailed all the materials I used to craft these engaging sensory experiences!
Diving into Sensory Fun:
Sensory play means diving into activities that tickle a child's senses, stirring up curiosity and excitement.
Perks of Sensory Adventures:
Getting into sensory play boosts creativity, fuels curiosity, and hones problem-solving skills, all while sharpening language and motor abilities.
When to Jump In:
Sensory play is a blast for babies and toddlers at any age. So, why wait? Dive in whenever you're ready for some sensory excitement!
Elmo
This Elmo Sensory Bin was pretty easy to make. With red colored rice, orange skittles, candy eyes, black colored macaroni and red pom poms, this kept the littles entertained and their faces lit up once seeing it! Grab all the materials mentioned above from Instacart by clicking the button below.
Another fun Elmo sensory bin with Black and Red rice for the base, a few pom poms and an Elmo sand mold!
Cookie Monster
This cookie monster sensory bin took a little more work than the Elmo did but was definitely worth it. Excuse the purple cookies, running low on ink. Blue colored rice as the base, with big candy eyes, black colored macaroni, and some cookies I printed and cut out. I also printed out a cookie monster and taped it to a box where I made a hole for the cookies to go in. This really made my 3-year-old so happy!
Oscar The Grouch
Oscar the Grouch is personally one of my favorites, how can you not think his grouchy attitude isn't hilarious. I whipped this sensory bin up with things we already had on hand but if you want to recreate this bin, click the link below to shop the materials on Instacart! Green colored rice, aluminum foil with hidden gems wrapped inside, bawled up paper with hidden gems inside, candy eyes, orange pipe cleaners, brown crinkle paper, and flies for dramatics.
The best part about sensory play is how creative you can get while making these bins. If you like these fun ideas, please be sure to check out more down below!
