Bugs, insects, dirt, and messy play... sounds like heaven to my little ones. While I'm not quite up for the boys playing with bugs outside just yet, this indoor setup will buy me some more time... at least until summer rolls around. If you want to safely bring the creepy crawlers indoors for playtime, check out these awesome sensory bin ideas.
Putting together this sensory bin was an absolute blast! I used DIY moon sand as the foundation, sprinkled in leaves from artificial flowers, tossed in some brown crinkle paper, and added green moss from the dollar store. And, of course, I didn't forget the creepy crawlers! Between creating this awesome setup and watching the boys 'play in dirt,' I couldn't tell who was having more fun.
Mixing things up with texture in this sensory bin! I'm a big fan of crinkle paper because, honestly, it's a breeze to tidy up. For the base, I went with brown crinkle paper to mimic dirt, sprinkled in some green moss, added blue gems for water, and threw in rocks for that natural touch. Sometimes the best sensory bins come together spontaneously, and that's definitely the case here.
This sensory bin was a spur-of-the-moment creation just in time for our learning session, and it was a big hit with the boys! Using DIY moon sand as the foundation, I threw in some green moss, peas, and a few strips of crinkle paper for added texture. We even busted out our magnifying glass to get a closer peek at those creepy crawlers!
This is a super fun easy to throw together sensory bin. We used this to target sorting colors! With Red and Blue rice for the base and a few creepy crawlers to sort. This was fun and really helped the boys with sorting their colors!
We celebrated World Bee Day with some cool sensory play. Yellow dyed navy beans, black beans, a few print outs, and cute little bees I found at my local Dollar Tree.

Homemade moonsand, nature pieces from our morning walk, blue gems for water, and plastic bugs for the final touch!
